Inner Ear Steroid Injections
Having arrived at week 3 my ENT suggested intratympanic steroid injections. While not being optimistic regarding the recovery of any of my hearing he said that this would be a “Hail Mary” and still worth trying. We scheduled the first Injections, during which there is a numbing agent is put on the ear drum and then a long thin needle pierces through to the inner ear area injecting steroids. After the procedure the patient needs to lay still for about 15 minutes. Needless to s

Brain MRI / Oral Steroids
Throughout the next couple of weeks I continued the oral steroids but they provided no change. I also did a brain MRI which showed some bright spots on my right side near the brain stem, but were later dismissed as “inflammation” at my next ENT follow up. We went straight to our local emergency room where I kept vomiting and dry heaving until I was given Droperidol, an antiemetic and sedative, which made want to crawl out of my skin, but gave me relief after about an hour. A CT scan and bloodwork came back normal. I was sent home and again refe

The Day it all Changed
Friday 08/01/2025. During the late afternoon I was training one of my teen clients at our private training studio. He was cooling down and stretching on a fold out mat while I was sitting next to him on the weight bench. I don't remember what we were talking about, but it was a very relaxed atmosphere, when I suddenly my hearing disappeared and a very intense mix of hissing, whistling and high-pitched sounds took its place. I first thought it was a sudden pressure change, and
