Inner Ear Steroid Injections

Having arrived at week 3 my ENT suggested intratympanic steroid injections. While not being optimistic regarding the recovery of any of my hearing he said that this would be a “Hail Mary” and still worth trying. We scheduled the first Injections, during which there is a numbing agent is put on the ear drum and then a long thin needle pierces through to the inner ear area injecting steroids. After the procedure the patient needs to lay still for about 15 minutes. Needless to say it is very uncomfortable but doable. While it kicked up my vertigo for a bit after, the side effects were mainly an increase in intensity of my tinnitus. The injections had no effect on my hearing.
